Use Chiropractic Care to Support Spring Sport Performance

With spring and better weather comes an increase in sports and outdoor activities. Many of us have already begun to prep ourselves for increases in outdoor spring sports like golf, tennis, and swimming. Begin with short walks to jogs to increase your cardio endurance. This helps to maximize your spring sports efficiency and performance. Using a treadmill, recumbent bike, or elliptical unit can also increase cardio fitness. Ask your Chiropractor which activity may suit you best with regards to the health of your spine.

Chiropractic care is essential for spring sports. Between the joint spaces in the spine are mechanoreceptors. These receptors reduce injury by decreasing reflex reaction time. Reduction in the brain’s ability to recognize mechano-receptors increases a delay in the reflexes responsible for preventing the joints from over extension injuries.

Arthritis reduces an individual’s ability to play sports or exercise, and can increase the possibility of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Chiropractic care helps to keep the spine bearing weight properly and reduces the probability of early arthritis. For those who already have arthritis, regular chiropractic care can also help slow the progression of the disease.

So get ready for spring with renewed cardio endurance and proper alignment of your spine! Remember, it’s easier to stay well than to get well.

Yours in health,

Dr. Dominick Mirando
